We have all heard over and over how exercise can reduce the risk of certain types of cancer and that would include breast cancer. What is interesting is that there are mixed outcomes in recent studies and we are aware that there are improvements found in aerobic fitness, and lean body mass and body fat percentage but also was found that there showed no alteration in those measures even with a significant reduction in daily calorie intake. It was also important to look at any alteration in estrogen but what was found was there was no significant difference. Of course there will be more studies and more results to analyze and more variables to consider including weight, age, and activity level. Really at this point, estrogen may be just one link of many in relationship to the risk of cancer. it is complicated to say the least and it will be interesting to continue following this for further results.
