Removal is fairly easy as you receive a local anesthetic then a small incision and this marble type ball is removed. Once removed most will not get them again but having said that there are some that will get another or several over their lifetime. They can occur at anytime in your lifetime but often when you are heading toward menopause or in your teens or early 20's. There are some rare cancers that can look like fibroadenooma so a fine needle aspiration or excisional biopsy may be done.
Having said all that, fibroadenomas do not predispose you to cancer. They will scare the heck out of you and your shouldn't ignore it but get it checked out and that is the bad thing about it as you won't know your correct answer until it has been reviewed by your healthcare provider.
As always, when in doubt, check it out! Making it a great day! S
