We often hear of increased risk of developing cancers related to hormonal factors. These factors definitely play a definitive role in the development of breast cancer and other cancers related to the female reproductive system. This increase may be related to menstrual and pregnancy history and hormonal medications as well as genetics that may increase the risk for several cancers. What is vital is that you do give a detailed history and talk to you primary care physician to get the right information. Too many people are trying to self medicate with over the counter medications that are not regulated (supplements etc.) and your doctor needs to be aware of what you are taking and approve of those choices. Please be prepared, take a list of those medications you are taking and dosages and have your history ready so you are not searching for details when you do go for your routine exams. As always, make it a good day! S
