I wish I had all the answers but the older I get the less I truly know. As a mother, my life revolved around my kids and even though they are grown and gone, they are still the center of my universe. There is nothing more difficult in life than knowing your kids are dealing with issues of any kind and that you cannot fix them. When they were little I could kiss the boo-boo and make it go away. Now the concerns and problems are theirs to deal with and my intervention or concern is an intrusion or seen as my directing their choices or lives. I often look to patients and their decisions and realize that nothing comes lightly. The decisions that are made are made with the best of intentions and understanding but not always meeting other peoples needs. As a caregiver all my life in my personal and professional career, it is often hard to sit back and accept those decisions and obviously it is not mine to decide or sway people in their decision making. Education and support are my key elements and I only hope that I am doing that to meet the level of their needs. All of us have some problems and difficulties that we deal with each day and it is important that we reach out to others despite the outer surface we see. Care, concern, loving kindness and random acts of even the simplist kind can make all the difference in the world. I can't fix your world and you can't fix mine but please be there for me and I will try to be there for you. With deep care and concern.
