If you have read my story and looked at the wonderful pictures (as done by Richard Sayer), you will see what helped us win a second place in the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association's Annual Keystone Awards for Online Special projects. This awards banquet will be held in Harrisburg on May 15, 2010. I can only say that I thank Richard for spending time with me and guiding me through the process of putting this whole project together so that we could help others going through the journey of breast cancer. Richard saw in me something that I had not even realized and through his brainstorm, a special project was developed over a 5 year period. My words and thoughts are just that, my words and thoughts. Through his guidance and support I opened up to share the journey with others. This phenomenal photographer saw emotions and attitude and humor behind a face facing so many uncertainities and turned those into a special web site that reaches so many on a daily basis. The pictures he took, I have used as a teaching tool and so many have reached out to me and opened up to me because they too could see themselves in my walk or a family member or friend that had traveled a similar path. The meaning that comes with the pictures has allowed me to reach out and touch so many people and teach and guide as well as bring awareness to breast cancer. The Meadville Tribune then gave us the forum to put that information out to the public and for the month of October my pictures and my journal was put in the paper for all to see. I hope you will take a minute to take a look again or maybe for the first time, look at MY STORY and know that we approached this as a method to reach out to people and I hope that the messages it contains have reached you. This is a wonderful day!
