Then they brought out about Stage 1 and Stage 2 breast cancer patients and the issue regarding node removal which cracks wide open what has been a standard of care for years. This made national news and is very easy to reference on the internet.
There is more information coming out on new drugs and what can be done with these new drugs and more.
I for one am thrilled that we are moving forward. I went to a breast support group meeting last night and we had women that were 18 years and out and some that are going through it right now. Bottom line is, it is not what it used to be. Think about what changes are happening as we speak! Not that anyone ones to step up and have breast cancer but there is no denying that care, treatment, and outcome is improving. I am hoping that with all of this that people can look different at what lies ahead.
It is amazing to me that in this day and age there are still some that think you can catch breast cancer and others that think if you make 5 years out you are over the hump and cured. Education is important for all whether you are in the throws of breast cancer or if you know someone or are related to someone that has it or just for your own personal information. In this day and age, the volume of information is huge and changing on a daily basis which is what brings me to you. You need to be informed and be a part of your care, ask questions, look at options, and stay open to tomorrow bringing about new possibilities. I am and always remain optimistic, hopeful, and prayful. One lady I know says that "Cancer does not have her!" I like that inner spirit and determination. We all have to find our level of comfort and reach out to those that have gone before to shore up our weaknesses. Soon we will be posting the support groups in the area that can be accessed and I will try to keep you posted on new things to look to and review. Sun is shining and it is Thursday, makes it a great day! S
