Just a week ago my yard hardly needed mowed. Now today I can bale it. Allergies are really difficult for most as everything is all coming on at once rather than when we slowly warm up and keep going steadily forward. Everything is out and even I am sneezing. It is so nice to see the sun and feel it on your back when out planting the flower beds and gardens. The Allegheny is extremely high and most of the yard is gone with water running over it. I will be anxious to see how it measures up when the water goes down to see what is left because when the ice left it took alot of sod with it too. We just acknowledged Memorial Day and the normal picnics and activities were everywhere. We celebrated our anniversary and it was a quite day as all kids are away. I often look at the patients that have no family there to help them through treatment and how awfully alone that would be. My mantra is and always will be that you get more when you give away (your time, money, talents) than you will ever receive. Take a moment and as we start a new season, remember those that their season is coming to a close. It is a time to listen and stay beside the patient, holding their hand and yes, by all means - Laughter is allowed and welcomed. There are so many lonesome people out there and don't even know where to start but volunteering and connecting with others is the prescription I would hand out if I could. Take the neighbor's dog for a walk, especially if it is difficult for them to get out. Make a little extra macaroni and cheese and deliver it and maybe even sit down with the patient and just listen and talk with them while they are eating. I could go on and on, but it is a new season and you can put on a new outlook and reach out. It is a great day! S
