The holidays are rapidly approaching and as we ready for the season, I think about those that are no longer with us and those struggling with each day. In the true spirit of the season, rather than be introspective, I ask that you look outside of you and help any and everyone you can. I have always believed in random acts of kindness and it does the giver more good than the receiver in most cases. The unexpected smile of appreciation, an acknowledgement that you are there for that person. Our race will continue, feel free to join in and have fun. Making it a great day. S
The great news is over $7,000 was raised from the St. John's Missionary Baptist Church Fun Run/Walk. That is amazing and for a first time out, very admirable. Although our grant did not go through, we will continue to look for new grants and avenues and I have been assured I will stay on in my present position. I never would have guessed that my own experience with breast cancer would get me to where I am today. People are willing to open up and talk to me because I have been there. You don't need a diagnosis of breast cancer to feel and have the thoughts I have verbalized. We are all experiencing similar processes. Words that no one likes to hear resound with all of us, words like recurrence and metastasis.
