As far as surgery goes, we still have lumpectomy and mastectomy and the consideration of radiation therapy which may or may not be used but usually is after a lumpectomy.
As with any cancer, when treatment has finished, the fear remains of possible recurrence. It remains important to continue with your follow up appointments and mammograms and fill your life with positive, reinforcing methods to make a stronger you. For any of us that have had breast cancer, there remains that uncertainty and working with your healthcare team, a support group, or a couselor can help you during these times of stress. For myself, I continue reading and learning and keep my appointments and look at survivorship as my goal in life. Include in your busy life, time for you, eating right, exercising, getting enough sleep, avoid red meat and alcohol and as always, make it a great day. S
