So how do I get less serious and more happy? First and foremost, be able to laugh at yourself at least once a day. I find that when I pay attention, there are alot of things I can laugh about each day. Much the same as when I slow down enough and stop and listen and I am guided by a higher power. Sometimes we just go into semi automatic mode, kick out of that and be present in your life. Those who laugh more, are more satisfied with their life. That is not something I made up but a well known fact. I find it interesting that there are even laughing ministries popping up. So for today, I plan to find ways to laugh and through that I will get a lift to my day and a greater appreciation and satisfaction for where I am at this moment in time. Make it a great day, for yourself... laugh, love, and breathe! :} S
As I was working at my desk today, I started to reflect on some recent statistics and also the patients that I work with each day. I listen with all my heart and try to help with education and emotional support but I also try to find a way to bring positive and happy ideas into the conversation. As I sat reflecting today, I realized that things have gotten a little heavy and I need to regroup and look at my grateful and positive approach as that is an important fact that we all need. I love a funny movie, and I don't mean one with foul language or one with lots of sexual innuendos that others may find funny. I like a good belly laugh and funny stories and even a hint of silliness. Yesterday, I called one of my co-workers to come down immediately as I had something really important to tell her. She rushed in and I asked her to close the door and as she did she asked me repeatedly what was wrong. I said nothing, my husband had called and he had found an old lottery ticket he had and we had won. She hesitated a moment and then started jumping up and down and I did too. The real truth of the matter, it was just an April Fool's joke. We laughed a good belly laugh and after she left my office, I sat down and realized, I had gotten just too serious over the last several weeks. Laughing improves your mood, it relieves tension, it relieves stress, and it is better than a daily vitamin.
