I have to share one of many funny stories about my dad just to give you a little smile for this father's day and consider your smile today a gift from me.
Dad was a rather large imposing man, with impish motives, twinkling eyes and a belly laugh that was contagious. I had gone off to school for my second year and had come home for the summer and a young man that I had dated off and on in high school and was one year behind me and had just finished his first year of college, had come up to visit. Now realize, I am talking about the late 60's and long hair and polyester were common. This young man came up my driveway to visit me and yes his hair was longer than mine, in fact way longer. Dad met the young man on the driveway and understood that he was here to visit me. Dad promptly went into the garage and came back with a step stool, clippers and an extension cord and said if he was going to see me, he was going to clean him up and proceeded to cut his hair, well actually buzz it off. The young man didn't move, nor could he (or would he-as dad was a big man). After the hair was gone, Dad anounced he could now come see me and he did so. There were no phone calls from the young man's father and no other comments made but we both knew that it was the last that would ever be said about it. I must admit, I was chuckling as I peaked out the window and saw all of this.
Hope this made your day! S
