Well, it is that time of year and as I bustle around to meet the holiday needs ... I made a leap and followed in one of my sister-in-law's footsteps. I have donated monies to PA BREAST CANCER COALITION in honor of my families. This organization helps underinsured or those not insured to cover from diagnosis to treatment. I have also donated to SUPPORT OUT TROOPS as I feel our military do so very much for us and are underappreciated. I have a son in the AIR FORCE so that brings it all home for me. I have done the same in the donation in honor of my families. As Christmas music plays at work all day and patients come and go, and needs are so many it is hard to determine who or how or what to help. Over the years you may become a little tainted. I had a family once to buy for and their requests were bigger and better than my budget or what my kids could even get and it turned me somewhat on that kind of donation. I am fully aware that there are many out there that have real needs and I wouldn't want to slight them but often times you see the same people going from church to church and donation to donation and you stop and wonder if they are really in need or abusing the system. I pull back up to stay positive and find where my comfort zone is in helping. We all want to help and help make a difference and we can't support every organization and outfit and until it hits home with us we probably round file many of the requests and mailings. Someone recently commented about positivity and why should you stay positive and how when someone says be positive it infuriates them. Again, we all become jaded and have our own trigger words and maybe the word POSITIVE is yours, mine is THANKS FOR SHARING THAT WITH ME, when we both know I may have told you about something but you shared in nothing of the trials and tribulations of what I am relaying. Like the hustle and bustle of the holidays and the words that people say, take to heart that most people are trying to be supportive and want to support or be supported and the words that are said are not intentionally meant to hurt or aggravate. As this is a very joyous time it is also a very difficult time for many so take time, breathe and make it a great day for you and others and in that you will be delivering the holiday spirit. S
