I love the phone calls and skype and stories of what they are doing now, the cards and colored pictures for the refrigerator and just the sharing of parts of their lives despite the distance.
I need them in my life and I don't know a mother that doesn't feel and say the same. What they are too busy to understand that they too need us in their lives. You will find no one that will be as dedicated and devoted to you and your kids than your own parents. That unconditional love remains constant inspite of and despite what you do.
It is not "just another day- ever in my life." Cancer changed all that for me and I would not wish that on anyone to gain that awareness. So think of me as we trek back to NC for a 10 hour drive with a 5 year old and an almost 3 year old and understand that love has no bounds. The inner spirit is fed by love and that comes from family and friends that are dedicated to the special you, today- tomorrow- and forever.
