I must apologize to those of you that follow this blog. I was not able to get on for the better part of last week and so I was unable to give you news or updates. I am not sure what the problem was but I could see that you faithfully followed by checking in and I am sorry to disappoint you.
What I have to say today is a bit of the daily trek of what is happening now in my life, but thought you might like to know that after having to put down my lovely golden retriever, we have found a new pet. Pepper (as named by my granddaughter) is our new addition. He is part golden retriever and part poodle and I must say getting bigger by the moment. I had said no more big dogs, haha. We searched far and wide to find baby gates that would be high enough to contain our dear pet in the kitchen when we run to the shower or just to let him out of the cage and not totally monitered all the time. Did I neglect to tell you he is part billy goat? Yes he easily cleared those and after hiking them up at least 4 more inches but no more (So he couldn't crawl under) and he cleared those as well. So our expenditure towards baby gates has gone down the drain and sounds like it might be the place to take them to the riverhouse. He is a dear thing although my Toby(King Charles Cavalier) and he have not made up yet which concerns me a bit. He is still quite timid but not too afraid to put his head in the toilet if he needs a drink so back to putting down toilet seats consistently is back on the daily regime. (Who is training who?) I need to socialize him alot! I think he will be a good therapy dog and I have signed him up for puppy classes but he is skipping the first one as he is too big. Are you getting the picture now? Our kids from all over are calling and asking for pictures of the dog. Guess there is something of interest at home now after all. I tried him in the river a little this weekend as really hope he will be a swimmer as that is what we love to sit and watch, a dog in the river. The little one (Toby) will go into just to get his legs wet and that is as far as Pepper went.
As you can see, I have found a new focus in bringing this fellow into our family. He loves to be on your lap and with you every second. The devotion to his new parents is amazing and yet sometimes frustrating. Like everything else in life, we will all learn how to channel these things in the best possible way with some guidance of the experts. Hmmm, sounds like what I do every day at work as well. Guess we can all tie this into our lives be it a teacher, a nurse, an engineer, a service man, a coach, a parent, a husband, a wife. The fact that we can reach out and get help and are willing to ask is important. So today as I run out the door and my husband is showering and the pets are running around the house making keep away of the toys, I smile as I walk out of the bedlam to work, knowing for sure it will be there when I return. Nice to have a little noise in the house after a few years of empty nesting. In the meantime, make it a great day! S
