To say this has been a stressful week would be an understatement and I once again have to wake up and practice what I preach. I have that little person in my mind that plays those mind games with me everyday(no I am not nuts) and you all know what I am referring to. How often do you wake up in the night or throughout the day those negative thoughts come in and self doubt creeps up. I had a wake up call that I need to once again reaffirm myself and my goals. This is a great day, this retreat will go well, I am on mark and I am well. Just a minute or two of positive self talk through the day can make all the difference. Shut down those negative emotions as soon as they start to hit. Night time seems the worse as there are less distractions and once it starts creeping in, it is like a runaway boulder down a hill. Put the brakes on and say stop, I am ok, here and now. Tomorrow will be great, I will succeed and I am doing the best I can. Then my next thought is to breathe and I don't mean just one quick, short breathe and back on the treadmill. I am talking about 10 long consecutive breathes and clear you mind. If it take counting to 8 with each breathe in and pursing your lips and 8 counts to release the breathe to help you slow down then do it. You know what works best for you but sometimes we need a little reminder so if you will give me a minute or two, I need to start counting and making it a great day.
