I had every intention of getting to this blog yesterday but as one could say, we were very busy. In addition to all of that, there was quite the commotion in our Chemotherapy area. First it is important to note that we have windows all the way around the chemo area that are like picture windows facing a ravine and woods and we have bird feeders throughout. Yesterday brought and unexpected visitor and lots of laughs and great activity. As we looked out, there was a bear, yes a bear about 250 pounds ++++++. It was so fun and every patient was up pushing their IV pole to get close enough to a window to see. This pulled everyone together for the hour plus it was here. Doctors, Nurses, patients, families, staff, were all at the window at sometime or another and cameras were flashing. I do believe the bear was actually posing at times and as he went from one bird feeder to the next and emptied it out, it was quite the entertainment. The best part was watching the patients enjoy every moment of what was happening. One new patient asked if this happened every day and we assured him that it didn't. What did I get out of that? The simple pleasures of life and how we all need to take a moment, slow down, and enjoy what we have at that moment. Look for the good, turn off that TV as there is little uplifting there to go on. If we are looking and listening, we will soon realize, we are not alone and yes there is good out there. So yesterday is gone but I am sure looking forward to tomorrow. Make it a great day! S
